We’re talking about crepey skin and cellulite!

I’ve got some fantastic tips for you, as well as links to some of the products I rely on to keep my skin firm and swimsuit ready at the age of 60. Be sure to check out the tips at the bottom of this blog.

Are you ready to dive in (pun intended!) Break out that bikini, and let’s get ready for our best summer yet.

What Causes Crepey Skin?

So, crepey skin is something a lot of us start to notice as we get older – it’s when our skin starts to look thin, fragile, and wrinkled, kind of like crepe paper. It’s totally natural and nothing to be ashamed of!

There are a few different factors that can contribute to the development of crepey skin.

One is a decrease in the production of collagen and elastin, which are two proteins that give our skin structure and elasticity. As we age, our bodies make less of these proteins, which can lead to a loss of firmness and elasticity in our skin.

Both John and I rely on NuSkin Beauty Focus™ Collagen+ to help boost collagen and elastin production.

Another factor is reduced hydration – as we get older, our skin doesn’t hold onto moisture as well as it used to, which can make it look dry and crepey.

Exposure to UV radiation from the sun can also contribute to crepey skin by damaging our skin’s collagen and elastin fibers, leading to premature aging.

And while some people may be genetically predisposed to developing crepey skin, certain lifestyle factors can also make it more likely, like smoking, a poor diet, and stress.

But don’t worry! There are lots of things you can do to help reduce the appearance of crepey skin.

How to Reduce the Appearance of Crepey Skin

Crepey skin can be a real bummer as we get older! But the good news is, there are lots of things you can do to help reduce its appearance.

Hydrate

First off, it’s super important to keep your skin hydrated by moisturizing regularly. This will help smooth out any fine lines or wrinkles and make your skin look less crepey overall. Plus, don’t forget to protect your skin from the sun’s harmful UV rays by using sunscreen daily!

Get 2 to 3 times the hydration with water alone! We love these Hydromate products to keep us on track. You can get 15% off when you use our link and the OWNITCOACH at checkout.

Exfoliate

Exfoliating is another great way to help reduce the appearance of crepey skin. By removing dead skin cells and promoting the production of new ones, you’ll notice an improvement in your skin’s texture and overall appearance. Eating a healthy diet full of antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals can also do wonders for your skin!

Consider Non-Invasive Treatments

If you’re really serious about tackling your crepey skin, you might want to consider using retinoids like tretinoin or undergoing non-invasive treatments like radiofrequency or laser therapy to achieve the desired results.

Of course, everyone’s skin is different, so it’s always best to consult with a dermatologist or skincare professional before trying anything new. But with a little bit of effort, you can definitely reduce the appearance of crepey skin and keep your skin looking healthy and beautiful!

What About Cellulite?

Now I know you already know what this is, but in order to understand how best to conquer it, we need to take a closer look at the science behind this menace to bikini season.

Cellulite is when the skin on our thighs, buttocks, and hips appears dimpled or lumpy. It happens when fat deposits push through the connective tissue under our skin, causing the surface of our skin to look uneven.

The good news is there are lots of things you can do to prevent cellulite or reduce its appearance. Here are a few tips:

  • Stay active: Regular exercise can help prevent cellulite by toning the muscles and improving circulation. Plus, it can help you maintain a healthy weight, which can also reduce the appearance of cellulite.
  • Eat a healthy diet: A diet rich in fruits, veggies, whole grains, and lean protein can help keep your skin healthy and reduce the appearance of cellulite. Drinking plenty of water can also help keep your skin hydrated and looking its best.
  • Avoid smoking and excessive alcohol consumption: Smoking and excessive alcohol consumption can damage your skin and make cellulite more noticeable.
  • Exfoliate regularly: Exfoliating your skin can help improve circulation and promote the growth of new, healthy skin cells, which can reduce the appearance of cellulite.
  • Try massage or fascia blasting: Massaging or dry brushing your skin can help improve circulation and reduce the appearance of cellulite.
  • Use topical treatments: There are a variety of creams and serums on the market that claim to reduce the appearance of cellulite. While not all of them work for everyone, some women find that they help.

Remember, every body is different, and there’s no magic cure for cellulite. But with a healthy lifestyle and some simple skincare habits, you can keep your skin looking beautiful and minimize the appearance of cellulite.

So now that we understand how crepey skin and cellulite happen and a few of the lifestyle changes we can make to combat them, let me let you in on a not-so-little secret. There are some fantastic tools we can add to our anti-aging toolbelts to reverse many of the signs of aging, including crepey skin and cellulite.

Here’s what I rely on day in and day out to keep my skin firm and smooth at 60 years young.

Fascia Blasting

Have you heard of the Fascia Blaster from Ashley Black? I personally use it, and I can tell you it’s an amazing tool that can really help reduce the appearance of cellulite!

So, what is fascia? It’s a connective tissue in our bodies that surrounds our muscles, bones, and organs. When our fascia becomes tight or knotted, it can cause all sorts of issues – including the appearance of cellulite. That’s where the fascia blaster comes in – it’s a specially designed tool that can help release tension in our fascia and smooth out the appearance of our skin.

Using the fascia blaster is super easy – all you have to do is apply some oil or lotion to the area you want to target and then use the blaster to massage the area in circular motions. You might feel a little discomfort at first, but trust me; it’s totally worth it!

By using the fascia blaster regularly, you can help improve circulation, break up fat cells, and smooth out the appearance of your skin. And while it’s not a magic cure for cellulite, many women (myself included!) have seen great results from using it.

Of course, it’s always important to do your own research and talk to a healthcare professional before trying any new tools or treatments. But if you’re looking for a simple, effective way to reduce the appearance of cellulite, the fascia blaster is definitely worth a try!

Topical Anti-Aging Skin Care Treatments

Let’s talk about skin-firming treatments – something I’m personally a big fan of!

As we get older, our skin naturally starts to lose elasticity and firmness, which can lead to sagging and wrinkles – plus cellulite and crepey skin. But there are lots of amazing products out there, like the NuSkin ageLOC Skin Firming Cream, that can help us keep our skin looking toned and firm.

I’ve been using this cream for years, and it’s one of the ways I’ve been able to keep my skin looking its best, even at 60 years old. Here are a few of the benefits I’ve experienced:

  • Improved skin texture: The ageLOC Skin Firming Cream is packed with nourishing ingredients like shea butter, jojoba oil, and squalene that help improve skin texture and tone.
  • Increased hydration: The cream also contains ingredients like sodium hyaluronate, which can help plump up the skin and increase hydration levels, giving it a more youthful appearance.
  • Reduced appearance of fine lines and wrinkles: The ageLOC Skin Firming Cream can help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles by boosting collagen production and improving skin elasticity.
  • Tighter, firmer skin: Perhaps most importantly, this cream can help improve skin firmness and tightness, giving your face and neck a more lifted, youthful look.

Final Thoughts

In conclusion, taking care of our skin is so important at any age – and there are plenty of amazing products and treatments out there that can help us achieve the glowing, youthful skin we all crave. From moisturizing and exfoliating to using tools like the fascia blaster and trying out skin-firming creams like the NuSkin ageLOC Skin Firming Cream, there’s no shortage of ways to keep our skin looking healthy and beautiful. The key is finding what works for you and sticking to a consistent skincare routine. Remember, every body is different, and there’s no one-size-fits-all solution when it comes to skincare. But with a little bit of effort and some TLC, you can keep your skin looking radiant and youthful for years to come.

Now, who’s ready to hit the beach? ✋🏖️
